Dancing Bear Comfort Dogs are very proud to offer Comfort (Therapy) Dogs to assist
We know that people are healthier and happier as companion, service and therapy animals enrich and positively impact their everyday lives. In Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT), specific therapeutic goals are set forth; for example, a patient might work on range of motion in physical therapy by playing fetch with a dog.
Newfoundlands are legendary for their intuitiveness, and affinity to people, especially children. They are reliably gentle, calm, and outgoing. Newfoundlands also possess a natural desire to “heal”, they are genuinely concerned about people.
We welcome the opportunity to work with local schools, practitioners, organizations, individuals, and families in the San Francisco Bay Area. The big, sweet, teddy -bear dogs are useful for people with a variety of ways like Team Building, Cynophobia (fear of dogs), Autism, Grief Counseling, Stress, Illness, Cognitive Decline, Addiction, Trauma, and/or Depression.

The Silent Risk for Campuses Without Therapy Dogs
What’s the cost of NOT having a therapy dog program?
- Researchers followed first-year college students over a full semester—some who had regular access to therapy dog sessions, and others who didn’t.
- Students who engaged with therapy dogs saw their symptoms of depression, stress, and worry stay steady or improve.
- Students who did not engage with therapy dogs saw those same symptoms get significantly worse over time.
- It was that the absence of such programs actively contributed to decline.
- Therapy dogs aren’t a luxury or a nice-to-have. They’re a low-barrier, high-impact intervention.
- We cannot afford to overlook the emotional, academic, and human cost of leaving therapy dogs out of our educational environments.
